Procedure

To a solution of methyl 2-(4-fluorophenyl)-3-[(pyridin-2-ylmethyl)amino]quinoxaline-6-carboxylate (200 mg, 0.51 mmol) in tetrahydrofuran (50 mL) was added NaH (107 mg, 4.65 mmol) at 0° C., and the reaction mixture was stirred for 30 minutes. Iodomethane (954 mg, 6.72 mmol) was added, and the reaction mixture was stirred overnight at room temperature. The resulting solution was diluted with NH4Cl solution (80 mL), extracted with ethyl acetate (3×40 mL), dried over anhydrous magnesium sulfate, and concentrated in vacuo to give methyl 2-(4-fluorophenyl)-3-[methyl(pyridin-2-ylmethyl)amino]quinoxaline-6-carboxylate as a yellow solid (120 mg, 57%).
