To a solution of 3-(2′-amino-2-phenyl-5′H-spiro[chroman-4,4′-thiazole]-6-yl)benzamide (20 mg, 0.048 mmol) and DIEA (21 mg, 0.096 mmol) in CH2Cl2 was added TFAA (0.2 mL) at 0. The mixture was stirred at room temperature for 1 h and concentrated to give the residue, which was purified by preparative TLC to give 3-(2′-amino-2-phenyl-5′H-spiro[chroman-4,4′-thiazole]-6-yl)benzonitrile (1.53 mg, 8%). 1H-NMR (MeOD): 2.27 (m, 2H), 3.36 (m, 1H), 3.84 (m, 1H), 5.24 (m, 1H), 6.92 (m, 1H), 7.31 (m, 4H), 7.48 (m, 4H), 7.81 (m, 3H).
