Procedure
A solution of lithium hydroxide monohydrate (23.5 mg, 560 μmol) in water (1 ml) was added to a stirred solution of methyl 2-(2-bromo-4-fluorobenzyl)-5,6-dihydroxypyrimidine-4-carboxylate (50 mg, 140 μmol) in THF (4 ml). The resulting mixture was stirred at room temperature for 24 h. The mixture was then acidified by the addition of Amberlyst resin, filtered and evaporated to dryness. The residue was triturated with Et2O to give the title compound as a white solid (0.02 g; 41%). LCMS: m/z=344 (MH+).
