1,3-Propanediol (580 mg) was dissolved in dimethyl sulfoxide (15 ml). Sodium hydride (297 mg) and 4-t-butyl-N-[6-chloro-5-(2-methoxyphenoxy)-2-morpholino-4-pyrimidinyl]benzenesulfonamide (1.1 g) were added to the solution. The resultant mixture was stirred for 4 hours at 120° C. Ethyl acetate was added to the reaction mixture, followed by successive washing with 0.5N-HCl, water, and saturated brine. The organic layer was dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate, and evaporated. The residue was purified by silica gel column chromatography (chloroform:methanol=50:1), to thereby obtain 802 mg (yield: 68%) of the title compound as a white powder.
