Procedure

1.0 g (0.00243 mol) of 3-(5-dipropylaminomethyl-oxazol-2-yl)-8-fluoro-5-methyl-5,6-dihydro-4H-imidazo[1,5-a][1,4]benzodiazepin-6-one in 50 ml of ethyl acetate was treated with 0.56 ml (0.00267 mol) of 4.78N ethanolic hydrochloric acid. After stirring at 0° for 1 hr. the white suspension was suction filtered. There was obtained 0.96 g (88%) of 3-(5-dipropylaminomethyl-oxazol-2-yl)-8-fluoro-5-methyl-5,6-dihydro-4H-imidazo[1,5-a][1,4]benzodiazepin-6-one hydrochloride (1:1) as white crystals; m.p. 246°-248°.
