A solution of 5-cyclopropyl-2-(4-fluorophenyl)-N-methyl-6-(methylsulfonamido)benzofuran-3-carboxamide (1.00 g, 2.49 mmol), 4-fluoro-1-nitro-2-(trifluoromethyl)benzene (1.04 g, 4.97 mmol), K2CO3 (1.03 g, 7.45 mmol) in HMPA (6.2 mL) was stirred at 60° C. for 15 h. The reaction mixture was diluted with EtOAc and water. The organic layer was washed with brine, dried (Na2SO4), filtered, evaporated and purified by silica gel chromatography (0-50% EtOAc/hexanes) to afford the title compound (1.37 g, 93%) as an orange solid. LCMS (m/z, ES+)=592.2 (M+H+).
