Procedure
Oleoyl chloride (75 g, 250 mmol) is heated at reflux with 2,2,2-trifluoroethanol (60 g, 600 mmol) for 16 hrs. After the evolution of HCl ceased, excess trifluoroethanol is removed in vacuo. Vacuum distillation of the residue afforded 87.6 g of 2,2,2-trifluoroethyl oleate as colorless liquid, bp 150°/0.3.
