Procedure

4-Methoxy-6-(4-methoxybenzyloxy)-2-phenylpyrimidine was dissolved in a mixture of TFA:DCM (1:2, 30 ml). The mixture was stirred at RT for 2 h. NaHCO3 and DCM was added and the organic layer was separated off, dried, filtered and evaporated to give the title compound (1.04 g, 83%), MS (M+H)+203.
