Procedure

To a solution of EXAMPLE 145C (3.5 g) in N,N-dimethylformamide (30 mL) was added 1-bromo-2-(2-bromoethoxy)ethane (5.8 g) and K2CO3 (6.5 g). The reaction mixture was heated to 95° C. for 18 hours. The mixture was cooled to room temperature, diluted with water, and extracted with methylene chloride (3×50 mL). The combined organic layers were washed with saturated NaCl solution (1×25 mL), dried over Na2SO4, filtered, and concentrated. The residue was purified by silica gel chromatography, eluting with 4:1 petroleum ether/ethyl acetate solution, to give the title compound.
