To a solution of (R)-2-(prop-2-ynyl)-1-tosyl-1,2-dihydropyrido[2,3-b]pyrazin-3(4H)-one (210 mg, 0.615 mmol) and (R)-1-((5-azido-5,6,7,8-tetrahydronaphthalen-2-yl)methyl)piperidine (183 mg, 0.677 mmol) in dioxane (3 mL) and t-BuOH (4 mL) was added a solution of copper(2+) sulfate, pentahydrate (43.0 μl, 0.615 mmol) in water (1 mL), followed by a solution of (+)-sodium 1-ascorbate (122 mg, 615 μmol). The resulting solution was stirred at room temperature overnight. The reaction was diluted with EtOAc, washed with brine, dried over Na2SO4, and evaporated to dryness. Flash chromatography (SiO2, EtOAc to EtOAc/2M NH3 in MeOH=100:5 to 100:10 to 100:15) of the residue afforded the title compound as a white solid.
