Procedure
To a mixture of 2-chloro-5-nitrobenzoic acid (5.0 g, 25.0 mmol) and dichloromethane (100 ml) was added oxalyl chloride (2.7 ml, 31.0 mmol) followed by N,N-dimethylformamide (5 drops). After stirring for 2 hours, the mixture was concentrated under reduced pressure to provide 2-chloro-5-nitro-benzoyl chloride.
Workup
- concentrationthe mixture was concentrated under reduced pressure
