Procedure

A solution of Example 3D (483 mg, 1.32 mmol) in N,N-dimethylformamide (5 mL) was treated with 60% NaH (65 mg, 1.63 mmol), and the mixture was stirred at room temperature for 45 min. Dimethyl sulfate (0.14 mL, 1.48 mmol) was then added, and the reaction was allowed to stir for 1 h. Concentration in vacuo, followed by silica gel:chromatography (98:2 CH2Cl2-methanol, eluent), afforded the title compound as an off-white solid, 121 mg (24%). 1H NMR (300 MHz, DMSO-d6) δ ppm 8.74 (s, 1H), 8.03 (s, 1H), 7.72 (d, J=7.1 Hz, 1H), 7.29 (m, 2H), 7.16 (d, J=8.5 Hz, 1H), 6.77 (m, 2H), 6.66 (dd; J=10.5, 7.8 Hz; 1H), 4.97 (m, 1H), 4.01 (s, 3H), 2.40 (m, 1H), 2.12-2.30 (m, 4H), 1.65-1.99 (m, 3H). MS (ESI+) m/z 381 (M+H).
