To the suspension of 0.19 g (0.6 mmol) 5-(3-pyrrolidin-1-yl-propoxy)-1H-pyrrolo[2,3-b]pyridine-2-carboxylic acid ethyl ester in 0.4 ml water, 0.4 ml methanol and 0.4 ml tetrahydrofuran was cooled to 0° C. and treated with 0.63 ml (0.63 mmol) of a 1M aqueous lithium hydroxide solution. After stirring for 5 hours at room temperature the volatile components were evaporated at a rotary evaporator and the residue dried under high vacuum over phosphorus pentoxide to give 0.18 g (100%) of the compound as a light yellow solid (100%).
