To a solution of methyl 2-(isopropylamino)thiazolo[4,5-c]pyridine-6-carboxylate (0.1286 g, 0.51 mmol, 1.0 eq.) in THF (1.3 mL) under nitrogen at 0° C. was added LAH (1M, THF; 0.8 mL, 0.8 mmol, 1.6 eq.). After 1.25 h, ice and EtOAc were added, the cold bath was removed, and the solution was stirred to room temperature. The layers were separated, and the organic layer was washed with brine, dried over Na2SO4, filtered, and concentrated in vacuo to give (2-(isopropylamino)thiazolo[4,5-c]pyridin-6-yl)methanol as a light yellow solid (0.1063 g, 93% yield).
