Procedure
A solution of 20-3 (3.55 g, 14.8 mmol) in DMF (50 mL) was treated dropwise with NaN(TMS)2 (16.3 mL, 1.0M in THF), the solution was stirred for 45 minutes, then treated with t-butyl bromoacetate (2.7 mL, 17 mmol) and stirred for 30 minutes. The reaction was quenched with H2O and the solvents were removed in vacuo. The residue was chromatographed (silica gel, 50% acetone/Hexanes) to give 20-4 as a oily, yellow solid.
