Procedure

One liter of dichloromethane was mixed with 800 grams of 3-nitro-4-chlorobenzenesulfonyl chloride and a dichloromethane solution containing 600 grams of hexadecylamine and 251 ml of triethylamine was added dropwise to this mixture. After the reaction had been completed the reaction solvent was removed by distillation under reduced pressure, 3 liters of methanol was added and a solution was obtained by heating. Crystals precipitated out as the resulting solution was cooled slowly. These crystals were recovered by filtration and dried.
