The product of step b) (1.50 g, 0.0066 mmol), 50% NaOH (15 ml) and THF (20 ml) were mixed and stirred overnight. The reaction mixture was diluted with CH2Cl2 /H2O and separated. The aqueous layer was further extracted with CH2Cl2 (50 ml×2) and worked-up to give 1.42 g of a tan oil.
