3-(3-Bromo-phenylsulfanyl)-6-chloro-2-methyl-1H-indole (4.764 g, 13.5 mmol) was combined with triethylamine (4.7 mL, 33.75 mmol) in DMF:MeOH (1:1, 150 mL) and N2 (g) was bubbled through the mixture for 30 minutes. (1,1′-Bis(diphenylphosphino)ferrocene)-dichloropalladium(II) (0.988 g, 1.35 mmol) was added to the reaction then CO (g) at atmospheric pressure was bubbled in for 30 seconds. The reaction was then heated under an atmosphere of CO at 80° C. for 4 hours followed by standard workup. The crude material was purified by silica gel chromatography (0-30% EtOAc in hexanes) to afford the title compound.
