Procedure

N-Cyclopropyl-N-piperidin-4-yl-3-trifluoromethyl-benzenesulfonamide (150 mg, 0.43 mmol) was dissolved in DMF (3 mL) and triethylamine (150 μL, 1.07 mmol, 2.5 eq.) added, followed by 1-chloromethyl-4-methoxybenzene (58 mg, 0.43 mmol). The reaction mixture was stirred for 12 hours at 80° C. and then the solvent was evaporated. The residue was purified by flash chromatography to give 244 mg of the title compound 20 as a yellow oil: 1H NMR (CDCl3): δ 8.15-8.10 (m, 1H), 8.07-8.01 (m, 1H), 7.85-7.80 (m, 1H), 7.67-7.62 (m, 1H), 7.23-7.15 (m, 2H), 6.87-6.82 (m, 2H), 3.91-3.76 (m, 4H), 3.42 (s, 2H), 2.93-2.88 (m, 2H), 2.03-1.87 (m, 5H), 1.52-1.43 (m, 2H), 1.01-0.94 (m, 2H), 0.81-0.73 (m, 2H). LC: 100%. MS (EI): m/z 469 (M+H+).
