Trifluoroacetic acid (1.2 mL) is added to 4-[5-(2-fluoro-4-methanesulfonyl-phenyl)-furo[2,3-c]pyridin-2-yl]-piperidine-1-carboxylic acid tert-butyl ester (0.78 g) in dichloromethane (14 mL). The mixture is stirred at room temperature overnight. Aqueous NaHCO3 solution is added, the resulting mixture is stirred for 5 min, and the phases are separated. The aqueous phase is extracted with dichloromethane and the combined organic phases are washed with water and dried (Na2SO4). The solvent is evaporated to give the title compound. LC (method 1): tR=0.59 min; Mass spectrum (ESI+): m/z=375 [M+H]+.
