A mixture of 5-(1-methanesulfonyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydro-pyridin-4-yl)-2-piperidin-4-yl-furo[2,3-c]pyridine (50 mg), 2-chloro-5-trifluoromethyl-pyridine (25 mg), K2CO3 (40 mg), and N-methylpyrrolidinone (1 mL) is stirred at 60° C. overnight. After cooling to room temperature, water is added and the resulting mixture is extracted with ethyl acetate. The combined extracts are washed with brine, dried (Na2SO4), and concentrated. The residue is chromatographed on silica gel (cyclohexane/ethyl acetate 4:1→1:2) to give the title compound. LC (method 1): tR=1.05 min; Mass spectrum (ESI+): m/z=507 [M+H]+.
