A mixture of 5-(1-methanesulfonyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydro-pyridin-4-yl)-2-piperidin-4-yl-furo[2,3-c]pyridine (HCl salt, 70 mg), 2-chloro-5-trifluoromethyl-[1,3,4]thiadiazole (35 mg), K2CO3 (55 mg), and dimethyl sulfoxide (3 mL) is stirred at 60° C. overnight. After cooling to room temperature, water is added and the resulting mixture is extracted with ethyl acetate. The combined extracts are washed with brine, dried (Na2SO4), and concentrated. The residue is triturated with methanol and then with diisopropylether to give the title compound. LC (method 1): tR=0.94 min; Mass spectrum (ESI+): m/z=514 [M+H]+.
