10.0 g of 3-hydroxy-4-iodo-benzoic acid methyl ester, 7.2 g of 1-(2-bromo-ethyl)-3-methyl-benzene and 10.0 g of potassium carbonate were stirred in 100 ml of anhydrous DMF for 28 h at 80° C. The solvent was evaporated and the residue dissolved in 200 ml of water and 400 ml of EA. The organic layer was separated, washed with 200 ml of water, dried with magnesium sulfate and evaporated. Silica gel chromatography (EA/HEP gradient) of the residue yielded 4.66 g of the title compound.
