Procedure

A mixture of methyl 2-(4-chlorophenyl)-2-(4-(methylsulfonamido)-1H-indol-1-yl)butanoate (840 mg, 2 mmol), as described in Example 3 step C, and 2 M LiOH (5 mL) in methanol (5 mL) was heated to 50° C. for 5 h. The reaction was acidified with 1M HCl and the volatile was removed under reduced pressure. The residue was dissolved in ethyl acetate (80 mL) and water (20 mL). The organic layer was washed with brine (10 mL) and dried over Na2SO4, filtered and concentrated in vacuo to give the title compound as colorless solid. LC/MS 407.0 (M+1).
