In a 100 ml Schlenk, under protective gas, 7.3 g (21.0 mmol) of 2,2′-bis(3,5-dimethylphenol)chlorophosphite were dissolved in 15 ml of degassed ethyl acetate and heated to 35° C. In a second Schlenk (100 ml), 3.9 g (9.5 mmol) of 3,3′-di-tert-butyl-5,5′-dimethoxy-[1,1′-biphenyl]-2,2′-diol were dissolved in 7.0 ml of NEt3. Subsequently, the biphenol/triethylamine solution was slowly added dropwise to the chlorophosphite solution within 20 minutes. The solution was stirred at 35° C. for a further hour and then at 45° C. overnight.
