Procedure

Aqueous lithium hydroxide (1 N, 0.11 mL, 0.11 mmol) was added to a solution of methyl 4-((1-oxo-5-(3-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl)-1,2,3,4-tetrahydronaphthalen-2-yl)methyl)benzoate (10 mg, 0.023 mmol) in THF (0.23 mL) in a 1 dram vial. The vial was sealed and heated at 40° C. After 24 h, the reaction mixture was allowed to cool and the volatiles were evaporated under a stream of nitrogen. The residue was diluted with water (0.5 mL), acidified with 1 N aqueous HCl (0.5 mL) and extracted with EtOAc (3×2 mL). The combined organic extracts were dried (Na2SO4), filtered and concentrated in vacuo to afford 9 mg of the title compound.
