To a stirred solution of methyl 3-((1-(2-fluoro-4-iodophenyl)-3-(4-methoxybenzyl)-6,8-dimethyl-2,4,7-trioxo-1,2,3,4,7,8-hexahydropyrido[2,3-d]pyrimidin-5-yl)amino)benzoate (3b) (3.20 g, 4.59 mmol) in THF (5 ml) and Methanol (10 ml), was added K2CO3 (2.54 g, 18.38 mmol) at RT. The reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature for 3 h under N2 atm. The solvents were evaporated in vacuo and the residue was suspended in water, the precipitated product was collected by filtration and dried under high vacuum to afford the titled compound (3c), (2.1 g). The crude product was carried forward for the next step without further purification.
