Into a 250-mL three neck round-bottom flask, which was purged and maintained with an inert atmosphere of nitrogen, was placed a solution of 3-iodo-1-((2-(trimethylsilyl)ethoxy)methyl)-1H-pyrazole-4-carbonitrile (compound 256.2, 2.73 g, 7.82 mmol, 1.00 equiv) in dioxane (30 mL). Methyl 4-methyl-3-(4,4,5,5-tetramethyl-1,3,2-dioxaborolan-2-yl)benzoate (2.59 g, 9.38 mmol), Pd(dppf)Cl2 (570 mg, 0.78 mmol), and a solution of potassium carbonate (3.24 g, 23.4 mmol) in water (3 mL) were added to the reaction. The resulting mixture was stirred overnight at 90° C., then cooled and diluted with EtOAc (500 mL). The resulting mixture was washed with brine (2×100 mL), dried (Na2SO4), filtered and concentrated under reduced pressure. The residue was purified by a silica gel chromatography with ethyl acetate/petroleum ether (40:1) as eluent to obtained the title compound as a yellow oil (1.9 g, 65%).
