A solution of methyl 4-methyl-3-(2-(tetrahydro-2H-pyran-4-yl)-4-(trifluoromethyl)-1H-imidazol-5-yl)benzoate (compound 287.2, 50 mg, 0.14 mmol) in HCl (6 M) (2 mL) was stirred for 5 h at 80° C., then concentrated under reduced pressure. This resulted 200 mg (crude) of the title compound as a brown solid which was used in the next step without further purification.
