The title compound is prepared in 74% yield as a colorless syrup from n-butylamine and 1-alpha-methylbenzyloxy-2, 2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidin-4-one (made in Example 11A) according to the procedure of Example 11B. Acetonitrile is substituted for tetrahydrofuran as the reaction solvent and toluene is substituted for ether in the isolation steps.
