A suspension of methyl 3-fluoro-5-(((2-fluorophenyl)amino)methyl)benzoate (133 mg, 0.48 mmol) and (R)-quinuclidin-3-yl carbonochloridate hydrochloride (163 mg, 0.72 mmol) in anhydrous CH3CN (6 mL) was heated to 100° C. for 30 minutes under microwave irradiation. After cooling to room temperature, the mixture was diluted with EtOAc (30 mL) and saturated aqueous NaHCO3 (20 mL). The layers were separated and the organic phase was dried over Na2SO4. The mixture was filtered and the solvent was removed in vacuo to yield the title compound which was used directly in the next step without any further purification.
