A mixture of 4-methyl-2-nitrophenol (5.0 g, 0.033 mol), 3-bromoprop-1-ene (4.2 g, 0.034 mol) and K2CO3 (4.6 g, 0.033 mol) in acetone (20 mL) was stirred for 8 h at ambient temperature. The mixture was poured into water (50 mL), extracted with EtOAc (90 mL), washed with brine, dried and concentrated to give the title compound (7a).
