Tert-butyl (3R)-3-aminopiperidine-1-carboxylate (0.41 g, 2.05 mmol), tris(dibencylidenoacetone)dipalladium(0) (0.034 g, 0.037 mmol), 9,9-dimethyl-4,5-bis(diphenylphosphino) xanthene (0.043 g, 0.074 mmol) and cesium carbonate (0.848 g, 2.6 mmol) were added to a suspension of 3-(6-chloropyrazin-2-yl)pyrazolo[1,5-a]pyrazine (Preparation 29b, 0.43 g, 1.86 mmol)) in N,N′-dimethylformamide (10 mL) and the resulting mixture was purged with argon before being heated to 100° C. for 7 h. After cooling to ambient temperature, the reaction mixture was filtered though Celite®, eluting with methanol. The filtrate was evaporated and the residue was purified by flash chromatography (7:3 ethyl acetate/hexane to 100% ethyl acetate) to yield the title compound (0.320 g, 44%) as a greenish solid.
