Procedure

Dichloromethane(DMC) was added to (2S,3R)-methyl-3-(2-chlorophenyl)-2,3-dihydroxypropanoate (24.4 g, Preparation example 25) and cooled to 0° C. 2,2-Dimethoxypropane (26 ml, 211.77 mmol) and p-toluenesulfonic acid (2 g, 10.58 mmol) was added and stirred at room temperature. The reaction mixture was quenched with H2O, extracted with DCM, washed with H2O, dried over anhydrous magnesium sulfate, filtered and concentrated. The crude compound was purified by a silica gel column to produce the title compound (23.6 g, 70˜95%).
