In a manner similar to the method described in Example 1, 6-chloro-5-fluoro-1,3-dihydro-indol-2-one (0.25 g, 1.35 mmol) (CGENETECH) was reacted with 3-chloro-benzaldehyde (0.34 g, 2.44 mmol) and pyrrolidine (0.19 g, 2.68 mmol) in methanol to give a mixture of E- and Z-6-chloro-3-(3-chloro-benzylidene)-5-fluoro-1,3-dihydro-indol-2-one as a yellow solid.
