To a stirred suspension of 2-(2,6-dichlorophenyl)-6,7-difluoro-3H-benzoimidazole-5-carboxylic acid (570 mg, 1.67 mmol) in SOCl2 (10 mL) was added 3 drops of DMF. The suspension was stirred at ambient temperature overnight. The solid was filtered and washed with CH2Cl2 and was dried under reduced pressure to give 2-(2,6-dichlorophenyl)-6,7-difluoro-3H-benzoimidazole-5-carbonyl chloride.
