Procedure
1 ml of tetra n-butyl ammonium chloride (1 mol/l of tetrahydrofuran solution) was added to 5 ml of tetrahydrofuran solution including 0.4 g of (E)-4-(tert-butyldiphenylsilyloxy)-N-phenyl-2-(phenylthiomethylene)butanethioamide. The resulting solution was stirred at room temperature for 30 minutes and added with saturated ammonium chloride. The solution was extracted with ethyl acetate, dried with anhydrous magnesium sulfate and filtered, concentrated under reduced pressure. Crude (E)-4-hydroxy-N-phenyl-2-(phenylthiomethylene)butanethioamide was obtained. The crude was used in the next reaction without purification.
