Procedure

A mixture of 3,8-diazabicyclo[3.2.1]octane (55 mg, 0.49 mmol), 1-(2-bromoethyl)-4-nitrobenzene (340 mg, 1.5 mmol), tetrabutylammonium iodide (18 mg, 0.049 mmol), and K2CO3 (270 mg, 2.0 mmol) in DMF (2 mL) was heated to 80° C. for 16 hours. LC showed formation of the desired product, which was separated by mass-directed HPLC. LC-MS (IE, m/z): 411 [M+1]+. (0.19 μM)
