Ethanol (1.0 mL) and a 50% aqueous solution (1.0 mL) of hydroxylamine were added to a THF (1.0 mL) solution of 4-{3-[(4′-{[1-methoxy-3-(methylamino)-1,3-dioxopropan-2-yl](methyl)carbamoyl}biphenyl-4-yl)oxy]propyl}morpholine (0.11 g) as obtained in Example 4-(4), and the mixture was stirred for 2 hours at room temperature. Then, the reaction mixture was concentrated under reduced pressure. The resulting residue was purified by preparative silica gel thin-layer chromatography (chloroform/methanol=90/10), and then recrystallized from ethyl acetate/hexane to obtain N-hydroxy-N′-methyl-2-[methyl({4′-[3-(morpholin-4-yl)propoxy]biphenyl-4-yl}carbonyl)amino]propanediamide (Compound 7, light brown solid) (43 mg, 39%).
