To a stirring mixture of methyl 2-(4-(3-(piperidin-1-yl)propoxy)phenyl)acetate (570 mg) in HOAc (5 mL) was added 6N HCl (10 mL). The reaction mixture was warmed to 80° C. for 2 h.
