To a reaction mixture of ethyl (3R)-1-(4-((4,4,4-trifluoro-1-(2-methyl-4-(5-(trifluoromethyl)pyrimidin-2-yl)phenyl)butyl)amino)benzoyl)piperidine-3-carboxylate (4.96 g), ethanol (16 ml) and tetrahydrofuran (16 mL) was added 1M aqueous sodium hydroxide solution (15.9 mL) at 0° C., and the mixture was stirred at room temperature overnight. The reaction mixture was neutralized with 1M hydrochloric acid at 0° C., and extracted with ethyl acetate. The extract was washed with water and saturated brine, and dried over anhydrous magnesium sulfate. The solvent was evaporated under reduced pressure and the residue was crystallized from ethyl acetate/diisopropyl ether to give the title compound (4.37 g) as a white solid.
