Under a nitrogen atmosphere, a mixture of methyl 4-((1-(4-bromo-2-methylphenyl)-4,4,4-trifluorobutyl)amino)benzoate (racemate) (300 mg), 4,5,6,7-tetrahydroindazole (128 mg), copper(I) iodide (159 mg), trans-N,N′-dimethylcyclohexane-1,2-diamine (0.264 mL), potassium carbonate (289 mg) and toluene (1.4 mL) was stirred at 110° C. overnight. To the reaction mixture was added water at room temperature, and the insoluble material was filtered off through celite. The filtrate was extracted with ethyl acetate, and the extract was washed with water and saturated brine, and dried over anhydrous magnesium sulfate. The solvent was evaporated under reduced pressure and the residue was purified by silica gel column chromatography (ethyl acetate/hexane) to give the title compound (243.9 mg).
