To a mixture of methyl 4-((4,4,4-trifluoro-1-(2-methyl-4-(4,5,6,7-tetrahydro-2H-indazol-2-yl)phenyl)butyl)amino)benzoate (243.9 mg), THF (1.0 ml) and methanol (1.0 mL) was added 1M aqueous sodium hydroxide solution (1.035 mL), and the mixture was stirred at 50° C. overnight. To the reaction mixture was added 1M hydrochloric acid (1.1 mL), and the mixture was extracted with ethyl acetate. The extract was washed with water and saturated brine, and dried over anhydrous magnesium sulfate. The solvent was evaporated under reduced pressure to give the title compound as a crudely purified product. This compound was used in step C without further purification.
