To a suspension of 1-triisopropylsilanyl-5-triisopropylsilanyloxymethyl-1H-indole (2.80 g, 6.09 mmol) in EtOH (30 mL)/THF (10 mL)/water (10 mL) was added K2CO3 (4.21 g, 30.4 mmol), and the reaction mixture was heated at 85° C. for 16 h. The reaction was quenched with 1N HCl at 0° C. The aqueous layer was extracted with CH2Cl2 (2×) and the combined organic layers were washed with brine, dried (phase separator) and concentrated under reduced pressure. The oily residue was purified by flash column chromatography on silica gel (eluent gradient: c-hexane to c-hexane/EtOAc 9:1) to afford the title compound as a yellow oil. TLC, Rf (c-hexane/EtOAc 9:1)=0.29. tR (HPLC conditions k): 5.02 min. MS (LC/MS): 304 [M+H]+.
