5-bromo-3-(ethyl(tetrahydro-2H-pyran-4-yl)amino)-2-methylbenzoic acid (2.0 g, 0.0058 mol) was dissolved in DMSO (20 mL) and 3-(aminomethyl)-4-isopropyl-6-methylpyridin-2(1H)-one (2.1 g, 11.7 mmol) and triethyl amine (0.585 g, 5.8 mmol) was added to it. The reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature for 15 min before PyBOP (4.5 g, 8.7 mmol) was added to it and stirring was continued for overnight. After completion of the reaction, the reaction mixture was poured into ice, extracted with 10% MeOH/DCM. Combined organic layers were dried, concentrated to obtain crude; which then purified by solvent washings to afford the title compound (2.0 g, 68.9%).
