A solution of 8 g (22 mmol) of 2-chloro-5-(4-chloro-5-difluoromethoxy-1-methyl-1H-pyrazol-3-yl)-4-fluorobenzoic acid in 100 ml of toluene was treated with 1 drop of dimethylformamide and 8.6 g (67 mmol) of oxalyl chloride. After the mixture had been stirred for 30 minutes at reflux temperature, it was cooled and concentrated. Yield: quantitative.
