Procedure
A mixture of the product from step (vi) (0.073 g) and sodium hydroxide (1 g) in methanol (20 ml) and water (20 ml) was heated at 60° C. overnight. The mixture was acidified with 2M HCl and extracted with ethyl acetate. The extract was evaporated and the residue purified by reverse phase chromatography. Yield 0.04 g.
