Procedure
A mixture of the product of step (i) (5 g) and potassium carbonate (13.14 g) in dimethylformamide (100 ml) was treated with 1,2-dibromoethane (8.2 ml) and stirred overnight at room temperature. The mixture was partitioned between ethyl acetate and water. The organic phase was dried (MgSO4) and evaporated. Purified by chromatography eluting with 20% ethyl acetate in isohexane. Yield 4.6 g.
