Procedure

A mixture of the product from example 2 step (iv) (1 g), sodium bicarbonate (0.22 g) and methyl iodide (0.7 ml) in water (4 ml) and methanol (30 ml) was heated at 40° C. for 4 hours. The mixture was concentrated under reduced pressure and partitioned between ethyl acetate and water. The organic phase was dried (MgSO4) and evaporated. Used directly in the next step.

Workup

  1. concentrationThe mixture was concentrated under reduced pressure
  2. custompartitioned between ethyl acetate and water
  3. dry with materialThe organic phase was dried (MgSO4)
  4. customevaporated
