Procedure
To a solution of 2.37 g. of 1-acetamido-2-nitro-4-thiocyanatobenzene in 10 ml. dimethylformamide, there is added under nitrogen at less than 30°C., 0.38 g. of sodium borohydrode. The mixture is stirred at 20°-30°C. for 1 hour, then 3.2 ml. of 2-bromothiazole is added. The mixture is heated to 130°-135°C. for 1 hour, then cooled and diluted with water. The crude product is filtered off and recrystallized from methanol yielding 1-acetamido-2-nitro-4-(thiazol-2-ylthio)benzene.
